Steak 'n Shake waitress receives large tip, A $6 bill and a $446 tip doesn't seem to add up but one waitress at an Indianapolis "Steak 'n Shake' got quite the surprise when it happened to her. On May 17, The Epoch Times reported that waitress CeCe Bruce couldn't believe how big of a tip she got from one of her regular customer's, Miss Jo.
"My first reaction was, 'Miss Jo, I’m not taking your money.' It was crazy. She asked me if she could leave me a ridiculously large tip, but I did not know that it was that large," Bruce told the press. Bruce said that Miss Jo usually left a generous tip each time she was at the eatery -- but this tip beat the others by a mile.
Generally, a $6 bill wouldn't warrant a $446 tip unless it was a really special occasion or maybe if a celebrity was seated at the table. Miss Jo didn't offer an explanation though -- she just wanted to do something nice for CeCe Bruce who is evidently a great waitress and likely a really nice person in general.
"She stays late, comes in early. Whenever we need her, she’s here. So she deserves it more than anyone. It just lets servers know that you work hard and it does pay off. There are people out there that [if] you do your job people reward you for it," said "Steak 'n Shake" manager Greer Gooley.
The $446 tip from the $6 bill will do Bruce some good. She is a student and she says that she needs to pay some bills.
