| L.K. Bennett's Rosamund bag |
Lovers of the accessible luxury brand will have seen the sassy new campaign featuring actress Rosmund Pike, the namesake behind the three new creations: Rosamund, Rosie and Rosa. As an actress, Ms. Pike is really emerging as one to watch and she seems the perfect face for a brand like LK. Bennett; her soft English rose looks and refined British style reaffirm what the brand is all about.
Rosamund has had a love affair with cinema for some years and British films act as inspiration behind the bags - in particular the 60s appeal of Julie Christie’s opening scene in ‘Darling’. Rosamund has ensured the bag features as much of her personality of possible. The zip features a charming safety pin detail inspired by the actress’s favourite piece of jewellery – a safety pin earring. Speaking about it, she said,
“I think having a handbag is about feeling that you are holding a little bit of luxury and hopefully that is what this bag will offer”.
The exciting new launch features a rich, vintage look colour scheme that Pike deems ‘good enough to eat’. I have to agree, the indulgent hues of dark chocolate, vibrant tangerine, and sugary white beautifully complement shades like evergreen and classic navy, mixing heritage with modern sophistication.
With an unmistakably British aesthetic but crafted in Italy, these bags are definitely a lifelong investment to cherish forever. They are made from both grained and soft calf skin leather, and feature suede-like lining inside. Rosamund spoke of her experience in helping design the bag:
“To start the process, I sat in the L.K.Bennett studios and sketched what I wanted; a bag to embody modernity, freedom and independence. I cared a lot about the inside of the bag as I wanted it to look delicious on the outside as well as on the inside. There is an inside out detail, which is a lovely punctuation mark on the smoothness of the Nappa leather, bringing some of the chaos of the inside onto the outside.”
