Kids counterfeiting millions of U.S. dollars in Peru: report

Kids counterfeiting millions of U.S. dollars in Peru: report, Millions of U.S. dollars have been counterfeited in Peru by kids as young as 13, the Associated Press reports.

The dollar, the world’s most frequently counterfeited currency, used to be copied most frequently in Colombia. But weak law enforcement and cheap craftsmanship are making Peru a center of production. The Secret Service even opened an office in the South American country last year to combat the problem.

More than $100 million in fake U.S. currency  tied to Peru has been seized, according to the AP report.

Perhaps Secretary of the Treasury Jack Lew’s oft-maligned signature makes the job easier for the youngsters.
