Tony Romo said last August that he cared nothing about Jessica Simpson's relationship with Eric Johnson, and he hinted that he was working toward a ring for his then-girlfriend Candice Crawford. Indeed Tony, 30, popped the question to Candice at her 24th birthday dinner in Dallas on Thursday night...and the ring he gave her may majorly out-sparkle Jessica Simpson's engagement ruby.
We caught the details on Candice's candy Friday via Hollywood Life. It's a "platinum diamond ring with an 8 carat, radiant cut, fancy yellow diamond with one carat of round diamonds around the center stone," Aslam Bakshi, owner of Diamond Images USA, Inc. in Miami explained. "The center stone is very difficult to find and rare, but it is one of the most popular shapes today."
The ring is estimated to have cost Tony $475,000...and if you're one for comparisons (which Jessica seems to be, considering she stole Nick Lachey's engagement thunder last month!), that's nearly twice the cost of Jessica Simpson's stone: her Neil Lane ruby flanked by diamonds on a gold band was said to weigh in at $250,000.
Still, ladies: these are both amazing rings. At press time Jessica Simpson didn't appear to have addressed the Tony and Candice engagement news, although she did say on Twitter last week: "If you have enough time to hate someone you don't know, you have enough time to improve your own life." Almost certainly her contentedness will squash any jealousy.
